For families, friends and couples, an escape to idyllic South Devon has everything you could want for a relaxing, fun-filled or adventurous holiday. From your lodge, holiday park or caravan explore the dramatic coastline, the enchanting moorlands of Dartmoor, and the contrasting areas of undulating countryside scattered with historic market towns and picture-postcard villages. Walk amongst wildlife and flourishing plant life in several Natural Nature Reserves, take in the scenery from the South West Coast Path or try any number of activities and watersports and work up an appetite for the delicious local produce.

The 70 miles of coastline includes many excellent beaches, with safe swimming and good facilities at many of them. Long stretches of sandy beach can be found at Slapton Sands, Bantham and Bigbury-on-Sea. For safe swimming and family days on the coast try Mill Bay, Dawlish Warren (also renowned as a wildlife reserve) and the beach of Dawlish town where boat trips, excellent seafood and various entertainments add to the fun. Explore rocky coves and pools at Coryton Cove and Ness Cove or spend a day in one of the many timeless port towns such as colourful Dartmouth, Salcombe with its maritime heritage and tranquil Kingsbridge. The Grand Pier at Teignmouth is great fun, with lively entertainments and adventure rides.

In addition to numerous local carnivals, arts festivals and street fairs there are some fantastic family attractions and visitor centres to plan into your stay. Watersports adventures on the River Dart, several traditional steam railways, Baddacombe Model Village and animal attractions such as the Dartmoor Otters and Buckfastleigh Butterfly Sanctuary, Paignton Zoo and Pennywell. For a real treat head for Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park – offering worlds of entertainment and breathtaking rides.
