South Cornwall is home to top-notch beaches, breathtaking outdoor activities and watersports, fascinating historic towns and monuments and top family attractions such as the Eden Project.

The ‘Lizard Peninsula’ forms the most southern tip of Cornwall, culminating at Land’s End. Explore this area to come across award-winning beaches, exciting coastal rambles and fantastic cliff-top views. Lively fishing villages pepper the coast in borough of Penzance – home to pirate legend and smugglers’ tales.

Further east on the southern coast lies Falmouth, a dynamic port town renowned for its watersport and boating activities. From the impressive Pendennis Castle to the fascinating National Maritime Museum, there is lots to see and do. The county’s only city, and Britain’s most southern, Truro is famed for its gothic Cathedral, traditional markets and distinctive cobbled streets. There is a thriving arts community and the city also boasts Cornwall’s grandest museum – the Royal Cornwall Museum. A short bus trip will take you to the acclaimed Eden Project visitor centre – one of Cornwall’s newest and most exciting attractions.

Whitsand Bay on the south east coast is a haven for surfers and offers amazing views from its dramatic surrounding cliffs – although there are dangerous currents, this famously scenic location is a great place to enjoy some of Cornwall’s best coastal walking.
