About the Area

A brief description of Perthshire and what you can expect to experience in the area of your park.

On cusp between the Lowlands and Highlands of Scotland, Perthshire and Kinross-Shire offer wild scenery, excellent sports and fishing, the tranquillity of the lochs and drama of the coast and fascinating sites of historic interest.

For walkers and strollers, there are endless routes to enjoy. Just north of Pitlochry, with its fascinating hydroelectric damn and ‘salmon ladder’, Ben Vrackie forms a popular ascent for walkers. Schiehallion is a more manageable yet fantastically scenic alternative – it is in the exact centre of Scotland with amazing panoramic views. The vast Ben Lawers lies just to the north of Loch Tay and Perth, and is one of the dominating peaks of the Southern Highlands. The visitor centre at the Pass of Killiecrakie was the first to be created in the Scottish countryside, a worthwhile visit when you take in this famously scenic area.

Lochs and reservoirs include the renowned ‘region of rivers’, Tayside. This tranquil area is a network of rivers and lochs popular for fishing and angling, and stunning to explore even if you are not a fisherman. Particularly pleasant lochs include Loch Tay, Loch Rannoch and Loch Kinnardachy, and when the River Tay reaches the sea, sea-fishing becomes the activity of choice on the Tay Estuary. Loch Leven is world-renowned for rainbow and brown trout fishing, and is overlooked by the important historic site of Lochleven Castle.

With family attractions as wide-ranging as off-road jeep driving, gold-panning and archery, visitors will never be bored. Delicious local produce, magical arts and crafts communities, enticing culture – all to be enjoyed when you stay at a holiday park, lodge or caravan park in Perthshire or Kinross-Shire.
