North Devon, and the eerie beauty of Exmoor, offer you every kind of getaway. Holiday parks, lodges and caravan parks are a versatile base from which to explore the county – through blissful rolling countryside and coastal walks, traditional days by the seaside, lively family attractions and fascinating historic monuments. The great outdoors beckons with numerous opportunities to get out into the fresh air and explore. The renowned Tarka Trail is a network of footpaths and cycleways that run through North Devon – perfect for leisurely exercise and scenic explorations. The South West Coast Path also overlaps the county and is an easily navigable way to enjoy the coastal scenery on foot. Planned activities are also on offer, from horse-riding to go-karting and canoeing to surfing. A wonderful golf course exists near Westward Ho! – thought to be the oldest course in England.

For family treats, top-class visitor attractions include the Milky Way Adventure Park at Torridge, the amazing Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and the fairytale theme park that is Watermouth Caslte. Ilfracombe Aquarium and Exmoor Zoo offer enthralling and even educational days out that are well worth budgeting for. A really special day out could include a boat trip to Lundy Island – a marine nature reserve that creates an untouched haven of wildlife.

The seaside resorts of North Devon include some of the nation’s best-loved beaches. Woolacombe is known throughout the world for its spacious sands and inspiring scenery. Enchanting resorts such as Ilfracombe and Clovelly summon the magic of smugglers’ tales and nestle in picturesque coves surrounded by dramatic cliffs.
