About the Area

A brief description of Kent and what you can expect to experience in the area of your park.

Kent is a blossoming southern county known as the Garden of England with two official Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty spanning a third of the county. From your holiday park, lodge or caravan there is so much to explore – active pursuits, inspiring scenery, exciting historic attractions and delectable locally produced food and drink…not to mention the close-by delights of the coast.

Make sure you plan in an excursion to one of Kent’s seaside resorts. Margate is one of Britain’s first, with an impressive golden beach and attractions such as the Margate Caves, museum and Shell Grotto. Broadstairs is a lively town with several sandy coves, and the bustling port of Ramsgate is an elegant community with great restaurants and picturesque architecture. The stretch of ‘White Cliffs Country’ includes the historic towns of Deal, Sandwich and Dover with its famous white chalk cliffs. As well as numerous watersports facilities, boat trips and breathtaking views, these towns boast plenty of leisure centres, aqua parks and maritime attractions to keep the kids entertained even on rainy days.

The blissful countryside of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers gentle walking and cycling in wide-open landscapes, drenched in plant life and thriving with wildlife. This picturesque area has many spots to visit for a day out, including maintained country parks for nature trails and picnics, the grand Belmont House country estate and the Agricultural museum near Wye. On the edge of the Downs is Faversham, a stone’s throw from the Swale Estuary and boasting numerous historic buildings, museums and stately gardens, excellent seafood and boat-trip days. The dramatic White Cliff countryside and the luscious marshlands of Romney Marsh make up High Weald – laced with country lanes and dotted with woodland areas like Ashdown Forest.
