About the Area
A brief description of Glamorgan and what you can expect to experience in the area of your park.
Glamorgan, or Glamorganshire, is a rich and varied combination of exciting coastline, dramatic mountains and valleys and luscious agricultural land. Thriving industrial and cultural centres make Glamorgan Wales’s most populated and energised county, with the contrast of outstanding natural beauty, historic sites and abundant outdoor activities.
Holiday parks and lodges within easy reach of the fantastic cities of Swansea and Cardiff – both with the urban excitement of major cities. Swansea is a historic maritime city, proud of its heritage and a wonderful place to enjoy sophisticated waterfronts and seaside activities. Botanical Gardens, galleries, the tropical attraction of Plantasia, theatres and the lovely Singleton Boating Lake are among the attractions.
Cardiff is also well worth a visit, with unique attractions such as Techniquest interactive science museum, the impressive ‘Tube’ visitor centre, ancient Cardiff Castle and the Millenium Stadium.
Stretching out to the south west point of Wales, the Gower Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty begging to be explored. Breath the sea air on fantastic walks and nature trails or visit unique attractions such as the Whiteford Lighthouse, Gower Heritage Centre and historic Lifeboat House. Admire the spectacular waterfalls of the Vale of Neath, bask in the beauty of Rhossili Bay and its famous sandy beach or enjoy a scenic drive to Port Eynon, at the southernmost tip of the Gower Peninsula.
There are plenty of family attractions throughout Glamorgan. The Rhondda Heritage Park is a must, being one of South Wales’s top visitor experiences. ‘Big Pit’ is an open coalmine with museum, providing historic intrigue and great educational experience for the kids. Travel on the Swansea Bay Rider around Swansea Bay, venture to Barry Island with its beach, steam railway and Pleasure Park…the list goes on.
