About the Area

A brief description of Flintshire and what you can expect to experience in the area of your park.

Step over the English border from Chester and arrive in the blissful countryside of Flintshire – the Gateway to North Wales. A scenic county blessed with idyllic coast, lush countryside and a wealth of historic intrigue, Flintshire is easy to explore from your holiday park or lodge.

Talacre Beach is a really special place. The sands and dunes make for great days by the seaside, with ample coastal walks around the Dee Estuary, a friendly village and fantastic views. Talacre Beach is famous for its rare Natterjack Toads, to be spotted at night, that are now extinct in the rest of Wales. The Flintshire resorts of Prestatyn and Rhyl are also within easy reach, with lively resorts, theme parks and the gorgeous Prestatyn dunes.

Inland in Flintshire, whatever else you do make sure you get your walking boots on once or twice. In this fantastic county for hiking, you are surrounded by the border trail of Offa’s Dyke, the imposing Clwydian Mountain range (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), and the stunning rolling fields and tranquil valleys that surround the villages of Whitford, Ysceifiog, Caergwrle and Llanasa. The Greenfield Valley Heritage Park near Holywell boasts 70 acres of lovingly maintained country park, dotted with woodland, reservoirs and historic monuments and ideal for peaceful rambles. The Visitor Centre and museum have a hive of information on walking and educational tours in the area. Holywell itself is an important historic town named after the main attraction, St Winefride’s Holy Well. Full of untouched Georgian and Victorian architecture and offering good shops and facilities, this pretty town is well worth exploring.
