The Yorkshire Dales form a spectacularly scenic area with a wealth of character in community, agricultural and cultural features. To the North, the gaping valleys intersperse historic towns and villages such as Hawes and Leyburn, where colourful markets and historic castles attract visitors of all ages. You must visit the stunning Wensleydale – heart of the Northern Dales, where high peaks, waterfalls and extensive meadows will take your breath away. Miles of walks and cycle paths mean that an active holiday is well catered for, including opportunities for horse-riding, fishing and watersports.

The Southern Dales lie mostly within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, including the popular Wharfedale and Littondale. The scenery is dramatic and contrasted with traditional stone villages such as Grassington and Kettlewell. Named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Forest of Bowland is overflowing with wildlife and exciting walks. The town of Settle is nestled within the limestone landscape of Ribblesdale and is also the home of the famous Settle – Carlisle Railway. The Eastern Dales offer the buzzing city of Harrogate, and the Western Dales take you closer to the Lake District in picturesque towns such as Kirby Lonsdale.

The Yorkshire Dales are the home of some wonderful local produce and delicacies, including world famous cheese, quality beer and locally reared meat and fish. There are a number of food fairs and events throughout the year, celebrating the wealth of quality products on offer, as well as some of the UK’s best pubs serving up dishes worth travelling for.
