About the Area

A brief description of Suffolk and what you can expect to experience on your holiday.

With some of the most unspoilt coastline in the south of England, Suffolk is a haven of tranquillity, glorious countryside and a unique culture of hospitality. The area is highly popular with families, due to the wide range of activities and attractions on offer, but also with those who thrive on the classic combination of walking/cycling and good eating. Popular areas on the coastline include Lowestoft – with its lively beach, restaurants and arcades. The town hosts an annual Air Festival and is renowned as a hub for a variety of crafts including porcelain. The contrasting village of Aldeburgh is of the most enchanting coastal communities, ideal for a relaxing day trip and boasting fantastic fish and chips, picture-postcard scenes and several arts events.

For food-lovers, there are no end of treats in store in this thriving agricultural county. Pubs and restaurants serve locally produced fruit and vegetables and organically farmed meat and poultry. Head for a drive and you will come across numerous farm shops, perfect for stocking up in your self-catering accommodation. Towns and cities such as Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds offer great facilities for visitors and earby Cambridgeshire and Norfolk provide further opportunites for exploration.

Aside from the joys of the coast, attractions for kids include zoos, museums, pick-your-own fruit and a range of cultural activities and parks.
