Shropshire is a tranquil county of gentle landscapes, dramatic hills, unique communities and widespread heritage. The land is geographically unique in its variety making the country a haven for walkers and nature lovers. Discover the rare flowers at Wenlock Edge, see 15 counties from the top of the Shropshire’s signature Wrekin hill, soak up an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the hills of South Shropshire – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The River Severn crosses the Welsh border and winds through the Severn Valley, with delightful walking routes and river cruises – sailing from Shrewsbury Boat Yard. The Severn Valley Country Park offers marked trails and activity programmes, whilst the Severn Valley Railway starting at the cliff top town of Bridgnorth comprises 16 miles of restored stations along the picturesque line – a must see. Bridgnorth is one of the prettiest towns in Shropshire, retaining its historical charm and ambience. The Bridgnorth Cliff Railway also stems from here and is an important point of interest.

The Severn almost separates the county town of Shrewsbury from surrounding land. This town is brimming with history and culture with its Shrewsbury Abbey and Castle among the most impressive architectural sites. Art galleries and all manner of exhibitions, and abundant bars and restaurants mean draw many tourists every year.

The are so many towns and villages, all with their own unique character. In the South, the town of Ludlow is the county’s centre for cuisine with a world-ranking restaurant. Bishop’s Castle is a traditional town with old-fashioned shops and architecture. plentiful – riding, walking, golf, fishing and hot air ballooning are all on offer in the county with numerous country clubs and activity centres.
