About the Area

A brief description of Pembrokeshire and what you can expect to experience on your holiday.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park comprises the extent of the renowned county coastline and the high points of the Preseli Mountains and the Daugleddau, or Two Swords estuary bay. The spectacular scenery is dotted with castles, historical remains, wildlife reserves and community character, and bordered with stunning pathways and dramatic coastline. The coast of Pembrokeshire is its pride and glory. Many activities for families are available in the coastal areas including rock pool exploration, crabbing and whale or dolphin spotting! The award-winning Barafundle Bay is rated as the UK’s finest beach numerous times and often compared to the exotic beaches of the Carribean, due to its clear waters and luxurious sandy stretch. Another prime spot is Broad Haven South – a large expanse of sand with room for games and in near proximity to the stunning Bosherton Lily Ponds. For watersports enthusiasts, Dale beach is the place to be. Whitesands claims the best surfing in UK and has a wonderful sandy beach. To take in the ambience, visit the picturesque harbour village of Lower Fishguard or the almost theatrical cliff formations at Church Doors Cove.

The county is clearly a foolproof choice for hiking and walking holidays. The National Trail of Pembrokeshire Coast Walk is renowned, as are the overlapping National Trails of Offa’s Dyke and Glyndwr’s Way. Coastal paths from Aberfelin are some of the finest in the country. With such tranquil surroundings and blissful solitude on tap, arts and crafts thrive in Pembrokeshire. You will come across numerous small and unique exhibitions, secluded workshops and delightful shops all over the county. Local produce is infamous – fresh fruit and vegetables, prime beef, succulent lamb and excellent seafood can be sampled from markets in the historic towns and indulgent farm shops.
