About the Area
A brief description of North Wales and what you can expect to experience on your holiday.
North Wales offers contrasting landscapes, breathtaking coastline, historical intrigue and a unique island of its own. This is the region for mountain exploration, coastal relaxation, aimless walks or drives and rigorous activities in a wild and wonderful surrounding. Including the counties of Conwy, Gwynedd, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham and the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales has something for every taste and consequently holds its head high as the key tourism region of Wales.
Conwy has a style of its own with the impressive Conwy Castle and more miles of ever-changing coastline, before passing through picturesque Betws-y-Coed as you head up into Snowdonia and the gorgeous Conwy Valley. The county of Gwynedd includes most of spectacular Snowdonia – where Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales draws hikers and climbers from all over the world. Llanberis’ Electric Mountain Visitor Centre and friendly climbers’ cafes will punctuate your route.Valleys and forests enrich the scenery and beaches, cliff paths and coves and resorts such as Colwyn Bay and Llandudno offer seaside recuperation.
Flintshire offers gentler countryside trails and wildlife-filled sand dunes, with abundant agriculture and leisurely tours by foot, cycle or car. The Isle of Anglesey has some astounding beaches, for sunbathing, swimming and watersports in the summer and wild, windy coastal walks in the winter – not to mention its picture-postcard resort of Beaumaris and some excellent locally produced beef!
This is a region rich in history, bold in landscape and endlessly diverse – with world-class areas of natural beauty and conservation – to be embraced year round as a one-off UK destination.
