About the Area

A brief description of Isle of Anglesey and what you can expect to experience on your holiday.

A unique destination, the Isle of Anglesey is situated off the coast of North West Wales. It is easily accessible by the road-bridge over the Menai Strait, and offers a wonderfully tranquil escape in its large sandy beaches, open horizons, quaint seaside towns and charming character. Close to your arrival point on the Island you will find the picture-perfect seaside town of Beaumaris – traditionally a holiday favourite – with an impressive castle, grand hotel, colourful rows of houses and several good pubs and restaurants. There is a nearby marina and the outlook across the Menai Strait is unique. Other coastal areas of the island offer some quite spectacular beaches, exhilarating for winter walks and luxurious in the warmer months. Red Dwarf Bay is a must in any climate, with an expanse of sand and wonderful surrounding paths – it is also easily accessible. Cable Bay is an enchanting cove, hugely popular with surfers as well as beachlovers. Excellent activity programmes and watersports are on offer at Rhosneigr and the port of Holyhead, and nature lovers will marvel at the opportunity for wildlife and bird watching on the dramatic cliffs and coastal paths.

Inland, visitors will enjoy explorative walks, cycle rides and even rounds of golf – all in a glorious surrounding. Local produce can be enjoyed at many of the excellent pubs and restaurants dotted about the Island – try the renowned Welsh Lamb or Welsh Black Beef and don’t miss out on the annual Oyster Festival in October. An easily navigable island providing a unique escape – Anglesey is a quite unique destination for parties of all ages.
