About the Area

A brief description of Dorset and what you can expect to experience on your holiday.

Dorset is a famously picturesque county with stunning coastlines and lush rural landscapes. It holds a ideal location for an explorative holiday, bordering three counties and with the variety of historical towns and cities, stunning natural coast and miles of rolling countryside. The famous Jurassic Coast is the Britain’s first World Heritage Site. Explore breathtaking landscapes such as Chesil Beach, the naturally formed arch of Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, and find your way round romantic sandy coves, picturesques villages and winding coastal lanes. Poole, Swanage, Bournemouth and Lyme Regis are a few of the popular coastal resorts in the county, with excellent facilities, great entertainment and quite simply some top beaches.

Rural Dorset offers the same amount of scenic beauty, such that inspired the renowned work of the author and poet, Thomas Hardy. There are miles of walks and cycle routes to take you throughout the luscious countryside, picking out historical architecture and quaint communities on your way. There are plenty of ways for families to enjoy the countryside including fishing, cycling, horse riding, golf and a range of leisure and cultural centres. The hill forts of Badbury Rings and Hod Hill are well worth a visit, offering some dramatic views and well informed historical intrigue.

Christchurch is a delightful town on the edge of the New Forest. The Christchurch Priory is an impressive piece of architecture with a fascinating history. The town offers a range of family attractions including leisure and theme parks.
