This excellent 4 star is flanked on all sides by tropical gardens and is situated 800 metres from the main resort at Playa de las Americas. The beach, bars and shopping facilities are nearby (350m) and the atmosphere is regarded as relaxed and pleasant for families. Boasting 2 swimming pools, 1 of which is heated in the winter aswell as waterslides and a poolside snack bar, the Bitacora is a firm favourite with plenty of returning guests. Rooms are all well equipped with air conditioning as standard aswell as balcony views. The onsite restaurant serves buffet style international and english cuisine and the various sporting activities from tennis to bowls will keep young and old entertained if need be.

fantastic hotel, stayed , very helpful staff, very comfortable and spacious rooms, very close to the shops and bars and easy access for wheelchairs etc.
slight drawback was the strange keycard arrangement for room access, you get a magnetic strip type card and a safe key that is magnetic so if you accidentally put them together, whammo !!! a corrupted keycard so you can't get in your room !!!.

one thing i found hilarious was the card table in the gaming room with a mirror behind it, enabling you to see all your opponents cards !!! ha ha ha...

all in all a very good hotel and no queing for the lifts at mealtimes like the hotel bouganville playa. i would certainly stay there again. also you are allowed to use the 'sister' hotel (the vulcano) across the road for your meals, if you want a bit more variety in your meals.
