We stayed at the Le Meridien Hotel in Jumeirah beach for 12 days. The hotel was located at Jumeirah Beach in Dubai which is very popular and well known. The whole of Jumeirah beach is simply out of this world and what I mean by that is the sand is so soft (almost powder like), very very clean (no cans, no plastic bags, no bottles, no stones & not even a sea shell in sight). It was too good to be true - I came to the conclusion that there must be a gang of people who sieve the sand after 12 midnight to make sure the beach is prestine - honestly it was that clean and almost pure. The water is very clear and so warm. It was so warm that it felt like a warm bath. The temperature overland from Jan to May rises up to 35 degrees celsius and from June to October rises up to 45 degrees. So a dip in the sea is very much needed. So yes it is hot but dry and you will most certainly get a deep sun tan if constantly exposed to the sun for at least 2hrs - guaranteed. The Le Meridien hotel made boundaries to privatise the whole area infront of it's hotel for their clients with luxurious deck chairs and permanent fitted shelter for a pair of deck chairs - and there were lots of it - enought for all their guests if they all were at the beach at the same time. Everytime you wanted to head for the beach we had a beach porter to carry our towels who would also lay and fold them over on your deck chairs and position the deck chairs where ever you wanted to sit (i.e. whether in the shade or under the scorching sun). Every hour on the hour a waiter comes along offers you an icy face towel and a 'slushy' (in 2 flavours - strawberry or orange) to cool you down & all for free. In the water there are 'buoys' covering a large area to guide you from straying away with the under water current. There was a beach hut where at least 2 life guards stationed themselves constantly throughout till 8pm - keeping an vigilant eye on their guests. No touts were allowed to bother you and frankly we did not see any on the other sides of our boundaries either. No beach buggies or water scooters were allowed near our area. Despite the Tower blocks overlooking the beach there was absolute privacy - with no polution smell or even noice pollution. The main road was too far away to notice anything else but the tranquility of the beach. There were overhead & leg showers position every 10 yards of each other, kept in good working condition and clean at all times. The staff never hinted or waited for tips - avoiding any embarassement... The bar had every drink & food you could ask for and quite reasonably priced too. In fact there was one incident when a waiter came over to us checking with us if were a certain Mr & Mrs.... as they had forgotten to take their change from the waiter... When we asked what was he going to do he replied that he would send it up to their room as he did not want the guests to complain about him and get him the sack as they all had name tags... This is a good system that seems to work. To top it off the sun set was to die for.
