Plus there are gadgets and tools like the best fare finder, ticket alert that emails you when your tickets are available to buy, carbon calculator to see what you can save compared to car travel, iGoogle quick timetables, iPhone App with train times and general information and tips on how to find cheaper travel. This innovative company claim a continual evolution to bring you the latest in technology with ideas like 'print@home' where you can print your train tickets for travel from your own printer; 'Mobitix' where tickets are delivered directly to your mobile phone and ‘Smartcard’ that allows rail payment and other functions on one card.

Norwich To Manchester

Would recommend the journey from Norwich to Manchester, but do make sure you book early to avoid a ridiculous cost. I managed to get mine for about £40 return, which is comparable to petrol costs in the car. Pickup was via one the fast ticket machines in Norwich station which was easy having booked online at trainline.com Journey was smooth with a few stops near Peterborough and Nottingham. Arrival at Manchester Piccadilly was fine but suprising how big the main train station is in Manchester, I had a job finding my way out!

Would recommend anyone traveling to gatwick airport to go by rail.we travelled from bristol to reading then reading to gatwick and it was so straight forward.even with 2 kids and 4 suitcases in tow.very cheap,and open return tickets. no hassle at all.
London To Oxenholme

This was the London Euston to Oxenholme fast service on a friday evening. The journey is unbelievably quick at about 3 hours, but it is expensive. I couldn't find any tickets under £90 return. This would be more acceptable if the train was not completely overbooked. There were no available seats, no service of any kind at the buffet, so I effectively paid £90 to be cramped in a corridor with no food or refreshment for 3 hours. Not what you need at the end of the week. I guess the answer is to book First Class, but surely you shouldn't have to do that just to ensure a tolerable journey!
