We visited Risley Hall Hotel for a 'nanobreak' on a Sunday night. The break cost us £70 from laterooms - a pretty good price we thought. As expected for a Sunday the hotel was pretty quiet which is just how we (a couple) liked it. The gardens were nice to stroll around but we couldnt find the spa area or pool. We heard it was pleasant in there though with a round swimming area plus sauna and steam room. The hotel itself is full of 'rustic' charm with various drawing rooms decorated with period pieces. It does look a touch tired I suppose but that can only be expected from such a stately property. We stayed in one of the suites (gerthwin) which was pretty average. The bathroom was excellent however with a great shower. Bed was two twins put together which was disappointing. We were awoken by a handiman at around 8am trying to fix nextdoor's shower which was annoying but we are fairly easy going and didnt complain. The restaurant is good value for £20 a head. We made sure we took advantage of all three courses and felt totally stuffed afterwards! All in all a nice place to relax but a bit tatty round the edges. The supervisor didnt look too happy either - we felt sorry for her - it looked somewhat understaffed.

This is a lovely hotel and function centre on the outskirts of Kendal. I have stayed there and arranged stays for business colleagues and have been impressed each time. The setting is very handy for town and the train station and the pub, restaurant and facilities are all top notch. I believe the gym area is excellent also, I certainly appreciated the pool during my stay.

This hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff pleasant and helpful. It is just a short walk to Grafton Street for shopping and there are plenty of good places to eat.

The hotel was amazing and the location was excellent!! They have 24 hour room service and the food presentation and taste is exquisite! They even had Creme Brulee. The room itself was great too and all the toiletries are so gorgeous. I will definitely be spending another dirty weekend there!
