Area Guide
What to expect in the area of Costa Adeje and things to do
Costa Adeje is situated in the south western region of Tenerife and houses many of the most popular resorts of the Island. Located just to the north of Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas, Adeje enjoys a warm climate all year round with many beaches, commercial outlets and entertainment dotted along the coastal regions.
A relatively new development, Costa Adeje reflects the Canarian government's initiative to improve hotel standards and environmental awareness by restricting any new builds to 5 star only. The result of this is some superb accommodation stretching for miles along golden coastline.
The resort of La Caleta to the north of adeje is one of the newest developments (relatively) on Tenerife while the port of Puerto Colon houses small craft and small commercial ships. Trips to La Gomera are available for a small fee and its well worth the effort to witness an unspoilt area while on holiday.
For those looking to escape the coast for a day or two the old town of Adeje is the heart of this region and provides some relief from the resort driven amenities of the coast. Another great place to visit away from the coastline is 'Hell's Gorge' (Barranco del Infierno), a ravine which is the deepest on the Canary Islands. Places are restricted each day so you will need to book up in advance for this.
